The Air Force Armament Museum recently honored seven individuals for reaching new milestones in the museum's volunteer program Dec. 17 at a luncheon in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The volunteers honored were:

Bob Ritz - 100 Hours
Jeannine Harper - 100 and 500 Hours (completed in same year)
Lucian Thompson - 1000 Hours
James Heavener - 1000 Hours
Bill Reeder - 2000 Hours
Bob Vanden-Heuvel - 3000 Hours
Rebecca Ashmore - 4000 Hours

"The AFAM is greatly appreciative of our wonderful volunteers and their dedicated efforts regardless of where and how much time they can contribute," said George Jones, museum curator. "They are very much a part of the Museum family and words cannot express my gratitude for their volunteerism."

The AFAM's Volunteer Program presents many opportunities for individuals and groups from Eglin and the local community. Some volunteers serve as the front desk receptionist/information center. Others conduct tours, assist in artifact research or become part of the aircraft/munitions restoration team.

"Basically, the volunteers are involved in every aspect of the museum and always accomplish their mission in the most professional and courteous manner," said Mr. Jones.

Among the many volunteers and sponsors attending the luncheon was Lt. Gen. (R) Gordon Fornell, Air Force Armament Museum Foundation president.

The AFAM remains one of the most visited tourist attractions along the Emerald Coast with over 105,000 visitors annually and over two million since opening in 1986.
