Commander selected for new assignment

Air Force officials announced today that Maj. Gen. David Eidsaune has been selected to become the Director of Operations at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. 

As director, General Eidsaune will be responsible for air, space and information operations. The general will also be responsible for shaping the workforce and infrastructure for operations to test, field and sustain war-winning expeditionary capabilities as well as overseeing the command's test policy and resource allocation, flight management, aircraft control services, weather services, and command and control operations and plans. He will serve as the headquarters test and evaluation mission area focal point for three Air Force test organizations: Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB, Calif.; Arnold Engineering Development Center, Arnold AFB, Tenn.; and Air Armament Center's 46th Test Wing, Eglin AFB, Fla. 

The general arrived at Eglin in January 2007 as the  Air Armament Center commander, and the Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons. He pinned on his second star in November 2007. 

Major Gen. Charles R. Davis will replace General Eidsaune. General Davis is currently the Program Executive Officer for the F-35 Lightning II Program Office, Arlington, Va. The Joint Strike Fighter Program Office is the Department of Defense's agency responsible for developing and acquiring the F-35A/B/C, the next generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines and many allied nations. 

A change of command is projected for the spring.
