Airmen receive Articles 15 under UCMJ in August Published Sept. 11, 2008 Air Armament Center Legal Office EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Eleven Eglin Airmen received nonjudical punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice in August. A staff sergeant assigned to the 96th Logistics Readiness Squadron received a suspended reduction to senior airman, forfeitures of $150 pay per month for two months and a reprimand for adultery. An airman first class assigned to the 1st Special Operations Maintenance Squadron received a reduction to airman and a reprimand for writing bad checks. A senior airman assigned to the 96th Medical Support Squadron received 15 days extra duty, suspended forfeitures of $250 pay per month for two months and a reprimand for failing to follow proper technical procedures and failing to go to place of duty. An airman first class assigned to the 366th Training Squadron, Detachment 6 received a reduction to airman basic, forfeiture of $670 pay per month for two months, 21 days extra duty and a reprimand for assault, for altering a government identification card and underage drinking. A staff sergeant assigned to the 33d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received a suspended reduction to airman first class, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand for misusing the government travel card. A staff sergeant assigned to the 33d AMXS received a reduction to senior airman for wrongful use of marijuana. An airman first class assigned to the 33d Maintenance Squadron received a reduction to airman, suspended forfeitures of $754 pay per month for two months, 30 days extra duty and 30 days restriction for underage drinking. An airman first class assigned to the 96th Security Forces Squadron received a reduction to airman with a suspended reduction to airman basic and 30 days correctional custody for forging PCS orders. An airman first class assigned to the 96th SFS received a reduction to airman with a suspended reduction to airman basic, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand for making a false official statement and dereliction of duty. An airman first class assigned to the 96th SFS received a reduction to airman with a suspended reduction to airman basic and 28 days extra duty for being absent without leave. A senior airman assigned to the 96th Surgical Operations Squadron received a suspended reduction to airman first class, forfeitures of $100 pay per month for two months and a reprimand for failing to follow proper technical procedures. The purpose of Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, is to provide commanders with a prompt and effective means of maintaining good order and discipline. An Article 15 can be the final disciplinary action triggering initiation of an administrative discharge.
