Harnessing the speed of consumer,commercial innovation

Dr. Eric Haseltine, Haseltine Partners Limited Liability Corporation president and managing partner, will be the next Air Force Research Laboratory Revolutionary Technology guest speaker. His presentation on harnessing the speed of consumer/commercial innovation is Aug. 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the Eglin Conference Center.

Dr. Haseltine was Director of Research at the National Security Agency and then 'Chief Technology Officer for the entire U.S. intelligence community under the Director of National Intelligence. Before entering government service in 2001, he was Executive Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering, in charge of all R&D for Walt Disney Company, and director of engineering for Hughes Aircraft. 

Dr. Haseltine holds 15 patents in optics, special effects and electronic media, and more than 100 publications in science and technical journals, the Internet and Discover Magazine. He has a doctorate degree in Physiological Psychology from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology from University of California. 

The presentation should last approximately two hours to include a question and answer session at the end and is accredited through the Air Armament Academy.

The first part of the talk will describe trends in consumer/commercial technology over the next ten years (e.g. smart phones, Radio Frequency Identification, Cloud Computing), and the second part will suggest ways to apply consumer/ commercial technology to warfare.
