Want to keep pace with the advances of innovative products or ideas that make life with technology so convenient? Attending events such as the Technology Expo hosted by the 96th Communications Group at the Officer's Club June 6 would be a great start.

The Technology Expo is an annual event where vendors from different companies showcase new products and ideas in hopes that mission effectiveness will be improved with the technological advances.

"With a diverse selection of organizations that educate the military community of the impact technology can have on their lives, both on and off the job, people have the opportunity to improve quality of life and mission effectiveness," said Allison Muehl. "The Technology Expo is a great way for companies to interact with base personnel in a short period of time."

The assortment of more than 40 companies each hosted a representative who presented a range of products. The representatives showed how the military community could benefit by improving data security, mobile communication, video conferences and a list of other uses which technology could better mission effectiveness.

Prior to the opening of the expo, base leaders were given a VIP tour to get a glimpse at what the companies had to offer before the event was opened to the public. Though they will ultimately be the ones who decide which products and from whom they will make use of, they also use this event as a platform to gain ideas from the Airmen who attended.

"The Expo is a great opportunity for seeing what our Airmen think, many of them have a better grasp of what product would be more beneficial to the mission, being that most are from a technologically-advanced generation," said Col. Harry Blanke, 96th Communications Group commander.

For many in attendance, the expo was a hit. The variety of booths and the products showcased kept the participants entertained as well as educated.

"I think that this event is extremely useful because it gives 'Comm guys' the opportunity to look at technology that could help us maintain data network security while at the same time get a glimpse at what we could use in our lives off-duty," said Staff Sgt. Chris Kodya, 96th CG.

Though technology may not be the answer to all of mankind's questions and needs, the Technology Expo's main goal was to show the public how it can make life more convenient.
