EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Six of the surviving 16 Doolittle Raiders were in attendance for the 66th anniversary of the Doolittle Raider on Japan. The Airmen were part of a secret mission designed to retaliate against the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Dec. 7, 1941. EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Two of the three B-25 Mitchells which participated in the Doolittle Reunion event at Duke Field May 31 were given the green light for take off by an airfield technician. The site, also known as Field 3, is one of the two locations the Doolittle Raiders trained for their now historic mission to bomb key strategic locations in Japan in 1942 during World War II in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
