Hennessy Award winner embodies Core Values Published May 6, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Anthony Jennings 96 Air Base Wing Public Affairs EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Those eating in the Oasis at the 33rd Fighter Wing can rest assured knowing they are receiving world-class service. Airman 1st Class Lydia Paige, 96th Services Squadron food service worker, recently was nominated for the 2008 Hennessy Traveler Award for Air Force Materiel Command. The award acknowledges individuals and units who make it possible for food service programs to operate efficiently and maintain morale. "I feel like we make a positive impact with the services we provide," said Airman Paige. "I enjoy seeing people coming in with a smile on their face and knowing they genuinely appreciate what we do." The Hennessy Trophy is an annual award presented to Air Force installations and individual Airmen who exemplify professionalism and dedication in their career field. This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the single- and multiple-facility category competition. "Airman Paige has a very positive influence on the work environment ... she has a strong work ethic and gets the job done punctually without being asked twice," said Senior Airman Erline Williamson, 96th Services food service worker. Day to day, Airman Paige is responsible for everything from preparing and maintaining the proper temperature of the food to updating the computer systems. The 96th SVS mission statement is to provide combat ready service professionals anywhere, anytime while maintaining world-class combat support community service to Team Eglin. "Services are much more than just the food we prepare for the Airmen on base, it encompasses a wide spectrum of support services, from the Airman's Attic to the gym," said Airman Paige. "I'm just a small part of the big picture." With great work ethic, a strong sense of core values and a welcoming smile, Airman Paige does her part to boost morale with courteous service while striving for excellence in every aspect of her career in the Air Force.
