CGOC sponsors Blue Wave Challenge Published March 31, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Anthony Jennings 96 ABW EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Company Grade Officer's Council is sponsoring a Blue Wave Challenge April 11 at 4 p.m. in the Officer's Club. The event will feature a number of activities ranging from Crud, darts, long ball and a 5-kilometer run which starts at 7 a.m. at Postl Pointe. The 5-kilometer run requires a three-person team minimum; darts and long ball a two-person team and Crud entails a four-person team. The goal of the bi-annual event is to build camaraderie among officers and other base leaders with a little competitive spirit. "The uniqueness of this event is that it provides a rare opportunity to potentially bring together company grade officers, field grade officers, and possibly general officers," said 1st Lt. Joseph Koleski, vice president of the CGOC. The CGOC challenges all company grade officers to take the lead, form their teams and get their leadership involved. "What we expect from each squadron or group is to form a team to represent their squadron or group," said Lieutenant Koleski. "Not every team member will or has to compete in every event. You could have several people that only compete in one event, but each team should compete in all events." There is a $20 fee for teams competing which covers the expenses of the club and the food they are providing. The CGOC is covering additional expenses; drinks are not included though they will be available. There will be no charge at the door for spectators. For more information about The Blue Wave Challenge or other upcoming events, contact Lieutenant Koleski at joseph.koleski@eglin.af.mil. CGOs interested in entering should e-mail Lieutenant Koleski with a team roster by April 10.
