Local heroes recognized

The Niceville and Valparaiso Rotary Club recently recognized the top security forces and firefighters of the year from Eglin and the surrounding communities.  They are:

Eglin AFB Security Police Officer of the Year: - Charley Allen;

Eglin AFB Security Police Airman of the Year - SrA Christopher Fuquay;

Eglin AFB Civilian Fire Officer of the Year - Christopher Young;

Eglin AFB Military Fire Officer of the Year - MSgt Charles Arnold;

Eglin AFB Civilian Firefighter of the Year - Brian Johnson;

Eglin AFB Military Firefighter of the Year - SrA Brandon Smith;

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Officer of the Year - Matt Abbott;

Okaloosa County Emergency Services Person of the Year - Wally Ebbert.

"We are amazed at the accomplishments of these men and women toward making the Niceville/Valparaiso area a safer place to live," said William Higginbotham, Niceville/Valparaiso Rotary Club.  "The number of lives saved, the millions of dollars of property saved, the quantity of criminals arrested, or drunk drivers taken off our streets by their combined actions was amazing. We are proud to have these outstanding individuals serving us and only wish we could recognize more."
