Base implements administrative driving suspension guidance memorandum Published Feb. 7, 2008 By 96th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- To ensure a safer environment for the Eglin community, the following administrative driving suspension policy is in effect at Eglin Air Force Base. All persons cited by Security Forces for committing the following offenses will receive the associated automatic suspension of base driving privileges as listed below upon receipt of a ticket: a. Speeding in excess of 15 MPH over posted limit: 30-day suspension b. Speeding in base housing: (1) 1-10 MFH over posted limit: 7-day suspension (2) 1 1-20 MF'H over posted limit: 30-day suspension (3) 2 1 MPH or more over posted limit: 6-month suspension c. Racing on a roadway: 6-month suspension d. Fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer: 6-month suspension e. Possession and/or transportation of a controlled substance while operating a motor vehicle and/or being under the influence of a controlled substance while operating a motor vehicle and affected to the extent that your normal faculties are impaired: 1-year suspension f. Being under the influence of a legal drug or intoxicant while operating a motor vehicle and affected to the extent that your normal faculties are impaired: I-year suspension g. Failure to wear seatbelts: (1) First violation: 7-day suspension (2) Second violation: 30-day suspension (3) Third violation: 6-month suspension h. Failure to use child restraint system: 30-day suspension for driver All persons cited by Security Forces for committing the following offenses will have driving privileges revoked or suspended for 6-months upon accumulation of 12 traffic points in 12 consecutive months or one year upon accumulation of 18 points in 24 consecutive months: a. Littering (to include cigarette butts): 3 Points b. Illegally parking in a handicap space: 3 Points c. Operating vehicle while utilizing cellular telephone without hands-free device: 3 Points
