Team Eglin leadership kicked off the "Cookie Caper 2007" campaign today with a symbolic cookie giveaway to several Airmen in Dormitory 854.

This year's theme is "Give an Airman a Cookie," and the program seeks to distribute cookies to Airmen residing in the dormitories and units who are scheduled to work on Christmas Day. All five Eglin wings are involved in the project.

"The purpose of the cookie drive is to let our Airmen know that we care, especially around the holiday season," said Chief Master Sgt. Troy Engholm, 96th Air Base Wing command chief master sergeant.

The goal this year is to collect 1,001 dozen cookies. Homemade or bakery cookies are preferred, but all types of cookies are welcome.

The main event is Dec. 17, when volunteers will collect cookies, package them and pass them off to leadership and supervisors from the five Eglin wings who will deliver them to the dorms. Airmen who work Christmas Day can also expect a cookie delivery.

The cookies will be collected Dec. 17 from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at the west chapel and from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the east chapel center.
