Airmen receive Articles 15 under UCMJ in June

One Eglin Airman was court-martialed and 17 Eglin Airmen received nonjudicial punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice recently.

The purpose of Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, is to provide commanders with a prompt and effective means of maintaining good order and discipline. An Article 15 can be the final disciplinary action triggering initiation of an administrative discharge. 

Court-martial:
A senior airman assigned to the 33 MXS pled guilty and was found guilty of possession of child pornography on his home computer. A military judge sentenced the accused to reduction to airman basic, 3 months confinement, and a bad conduct discharge. 

Articles 15:
An airman first class assigned to the 33 AMXS received a suspended reduction to airman and a reprimand for reporting late for duty.

A senior airman assigned to the 33 AMXS received a reduction to airman first class, 15 days extra duty, and a reprimand for plagiarizing documents while attending Airman Leadership School an for signing an official record which was false.

An airman basic assigned to the 33 AMXS received a reprimand for indecent acts with another.

An airman first class assigned to the 33 AMXS received a suspended reduction to Airman, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for underage drinking.

A senior airman assigned to the 33 AMXS received a reduction to airman first class, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for recklessly driving a vehicle, damaging government property, and fleeing the scene of an accident.

A senior airman assigned to the 33 MXS received a reduction to airman first class, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for failing to follow end-of-shift procedures and for failing to obey a lawful order.

A master sergeant assigned to the 33 MXS received a reduction to technical sergeant, 14 days extra duty, forfeiture of $500.00 pay, and a reprimand for misuse of a government travel card, mistreatment of subordinates, and use of unauthorized chemicals in the workplace.

A chief master sergeant assigned to the 33 MXS received a suspended reduction to senior master sergeant, forfeiture of $2,173.00 pay, and a reprimand for engaging in an unprofessional relationship with a subordinate.

A master sergeant assigned to the 33 MXS received a suspended reduction to technical sergeant, suspended forfeitures of $600.00 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand for engaging in an unprofessional relationship with a superior.

A staff sergeant assigned to the 33 MXS received a reduction to senior airman, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for assault and for indecent assault.

An airman first class assigned to the 33 MXS received a reduction to airman, forfeitures of $511.00 pay per month for two months, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for failing to obey a lawful order.

An airman first class assigned to the 366 TRS received a reduction to airman for operating a privately-owned vehicle and wearing civilian clothing while under Phase I restrictions.

A staff sergeant assigned to the 96 DS received a reduction to senior airman and a reprimand for sexually harassing a subordinate.

A senior airman assigned to the 96 MDOS received a reduction to airman basic and a reprimand for use of marijuana.

A senior airman assigned to the 96 MSS received a suspended reduction to airman first class, forfeitures of $250.00 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand for altering an official form (DD Form 422 - Physical Profile).

An airman first class assigned to the 96 SFS received a reduction to airman basic, 10 days extra duty, 10 days restriction, and a reprimand for wrongfully taking another military member's debit card and making ATM withdrawals without that member's permission.

An airman first class assigned to the 96 SFS received a reduction to airman, a suspended reduction to Airman Basic, 10 days restriction, 10 days extra duty, and a reprimand for reporting late for duty and for making a false official statement.
