Airmen receive Articles 15 under UCMJ in May Published June 6, 2007 By 96th Air Base Wing Legal Office EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- One Eglin airman was court-martialed and eight Eglin Airmen received nonjudicial punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice recently. The purpose of Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, is to provide commanders with a prompt and effective means of maintaining good order and discipline. An Article 15 can be the final disciplinary action triggering initiation of an administrative discharge. Court-martial An airman first class assigned to the 46th Operation Support Squadron pled guilty and was found guilty of possession, use, distribution, and introduction on to Eglin Air Force Base of MDA (a drug similar to "Ecstasy"). A military judge sentenced the Accused to reduction to airman basic, 45 days confinement, and a bad conduct discharge. Article 15s An airman first class assigned to the 33rd Maintenance Squadron received a suspended reduction to airman, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for stealing three compact discs from Army and Air Force Exchange Services. A captain assigned to the 58th Fighter Squadron received forfeitures of $1,000 pay per month for two months and a reprimand for driving while drunk. A staff sergeant assigned to the 68th Electronic Warfare Squadron received a suspended reduction to senior airman and a reprimand for not properly cleaning government quarters and for damaging government quarters in the amount of $942.59. A senior airman assigned to the 728th Air Control Squadron received a reduction to airman basic and suspended forfeitures of $650 pay per month for two months for unlawfully entering the dorm room of another Airman. A senior airman assigned to the 96th Civil Engineer Squadron received a reduction to airman first class, suspended reduction to airman, and forfeiture of $729 pay for committing adultery. A staff sergeant assigned to the 96th Dental Squadron received a forfeiture of $500 pay, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand for committing adultery. An airman assigned to the 96th Medical Dental Operations Squadron received a reduction to airman basic, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand for failure to go to the place of duty at the prescribed time. An airman first class assigned to the 96th MDSS received a suspended reduction to airman, 15 days extra duty, and a reprimand for dereliction of duty for failure to follow lab procedures. The same member received a supplemental vacation action on the suspended portion of the previous punishment and was reduced to airman for disrespecting a non-commissioned officer and for dereliction of duty for failure to follow lab procedures. An airman first class assigned to the 96th Security Forces Squadron received a reduction to airman, 10 days extra duty, and a reprimand for possessing alcohol while under the age of 21. An airman first class assigned to the 96th SFS received a reduction to airman basic and a reprimand for malingering by taking sleeping medication to avoid duty. An airman first class assigned to the 96th SFS received a reduction to airman, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand for assaulting the member's spouse. An airman first class assigned to the 96th SFS received a reduction to airman, 10 days extra duty, and a reprimand for possessing alcohol while under the age of 21.
