Airmen receive Articles 15 under UCMJ in April

One Eglin Airman was court-martialed and eight Eglin Airmen received nonjudicial punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice recently.

The purpose of Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice, is to provide commanders with a prompt and effective means of maintaining good order and discipline. An Article 15 can be the final disciplinary action triggering initiation of an administrative discharge.

Court-martial:
An airman first class assigned to the 46th Operations Support Squadron pled guilty and was found guilty of possession of MDA (a drug similar to "Ecstasy"), use of MDA and introduction of MDA onto Eglin Air Force Base. A military judge sentenced the accused to reduction to airman basic, two months confinement and a bad conduct discharge.

Articles 15:
A senior airman assigned to the 46th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received a suspended reduction to airman first class, forfeitures of $200 pay per month for two months and a reprimand for wrongfully using Percocet, a controlled substance.

An airman first class assigned to the 46th Maintenance Squadron received a suspended reduction to airman and 30 days extra duty for failure to go to appointed place of duty, underage drinking and making a false official statement.

An airman first class assigned to the 46th MXS received a reduction to airman for failure to go to appointed place of duty and failure to obey a lawful order.

A senior airman assigned to the 728th Air Control Squadron received a reduction to airman basic for using a government computer to access, store and display sexually explicit and offensive material.

A senior airman assigned to the 96th Logistics Readiness Squadron received suspended forfeitures of $941 pay per month for two months, 30 days correctional custody and a reprimand for using a government travel card for purchases other than official government travel expenses.

A senior airman assigned to the 96th LRS received a reduction to airman first class, suspended forfeitures of $864 pay per month for two months and a reprimand for signing a false official record.

A senior airman assigned to the 96th Medical Operations Squadron received a suspended reduction to airman first class, a suspended forfeiture of $864 pay and 60 days restriction for failure to pay debts on a Government Travel Card and to Air Force Aid.

An airman first class assigned to the 96th Medical Support Squadron received a suspended reduction to Airman, suspended forfeitures of $729 pay per month for two months, 30 days restriction and 30 days extra duty for underage drinking on multiple occasions.
