EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 96th Test Wing, under agreements with the U.S. Coast Guard, developed a new test site providing instrumentation support to test and training missions in the Eglin’s gulf test range.
The wing’s test organizations track, measure, communicate, and control systems tested over approximately 120,000 square miles of overwater airspace.
This test site, located south of Tampa, and its instrumentation are maintained by the 96th TW and operated remotely through control centers at Eglin.
The Eglin Test and Training Complex is one of the largest military ranges in the continental Unites States where research, development, testing, and evaluation of conventional weapons and electronic systems takes place.
