The Air Force Materiel Command commander closed out her immersion visit here Dec. 1 with a Commander's Call at the Enlisted Heritage Hall.

Gen. Ellen M. Pawlikowski said she was thrilled to return to Eglin and had specifically saved it for the last stop on her immersion tour.

The general began with an introduction of who she was, where she came from and how she became the commander.

She then talked about the Air Force's core competencies and AFMC's role in all of them.

"Each one of those core competencies can't happen without each one of us being here doing our jobs to the best of our abilities," she said.

She moved on to the mission and vision of the command discussing how it works into the Air Force's goals.

"We must be focused on the weapons we field to provide the agility the Air Force requires," she said.  "Eglin has the opportunity to lead the way in this and set the example for the command to provide agile capabilities in an agile way."

The general also addressed the subject of personnel and taking care of one another.

"I need you to create an environment of respect and resiliency for each other every single day," said Pawlikowski.

She also explained that no manpower cuts are planned for the foreseeable future, and the command is actually expected to see small growth over the next three years.  She did say that changes to civilian personnel practices, specifically new hiring processes are in the works.

The Call ended with the commander thanking everyone for their continued hard work and a short Q/A session.
