Physicians use precision to clean cloudy eyes
Maj. Sarah Eccles-Brown, 96th Surgical Operations Squadron, removes cortex, the outer layers of the cataract, during a cataract surgery at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. During the procedure, the surgeon removes the eye’s cloudy lens known as a cataract and replaces it with a new clear lens implant. The surgery takes approximately 20 minutes. The 96th Medical Group performs approximately 150 cataract surgeries per year. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
