Air traffic controllers keep Eglin airspace safe
Staff Sgt. Amanda Richardson, 96th Operations Support Squadron, marks her flight strips while working in the approach controller position in the radar air traffic control facility at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The Airmen and civilian radar controllers are tasked with guiding aircraft through the more than 900,000 miles of airspace from the surface to 10,000 feet within Eglin’s national airspace. They control airspace up to 23,000 feet over Eglin’s land ranges and 60,000 over the water ranges. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
