Team Eglin resumes Combined Federal Campaign Published Oct. 18, 2013 By Chrissy Cuttita Team Eglin Public Affairs EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Combined Federal Campaign resumed here Oct. 18 after the government shutdown put a pause to the annual fundraiser. The CFC is one of two sanctioned charitable drives in the Air Force. The campaign allows Team Eglin to channel the willingness of its people to support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. Before the suspension of the drive, Team Eglin collected approximately $87,000 in two weeks with a goal of $650,000 by the end of the campaign Dec. 5. Knowing the impacts of the sequestration and shutdown could financially affect this year's drive, the base coordinators and leadership lowered the goal by $100,000, according to 2nd Lt. Roy Cruz, one of the base CFC project officers. "Your generosity last year was overwhelming," said Brig. Gen. David Harris, 96th Test Wing commander. "Collectively Team Eglin contributed over $762,526 to CFC charities last year, which was truly a significant achievement during difficult economic times. This year, we continue to live in challenging times as many people are still feeling the impacts of furloughs and the government shutdown. Yet, I encourage each of you to participate in any way you can. By donating your time, talents or making a finance contribution you can make a difference in the lives of others." To participate in the campaign Team Eglin personnel can make individual pledges or volunteer time, money or talent in unit events. During the temporary pause in soliciting donations and hosting fundraisers, Team Eglin still had an option to contribute through myPay. To donate this way, members go online to www.cfcnca.org and find the organization want to donate to. All donation slips received for payroll deductions will be implemented as normal. Team Eglin will host a four-person scramble golf tournament Oct. 25 to help raise CFC funds. Deadline to register is Oct. 22. The same day, a CFC mid-campaign rally will be at the Enlisted Hall from 9 to 10 a.m. Points of contact are 2nd Lt. Travis Deckert, 883-2754, and Capt. Shane McConnell, 882-5934. The CFC, according to its website, is the world's largest annual workplace charity campaign. Information on the campaign is online here. This is an unofficial activity; it is not a part of the Department of Defense or any of its components and it has no governmental status.
