Military Saves Week kicks off here Feb. 25 – March 2.  The DoD-wide financial readiness campaign encourages military and civilian communities to meet immediate needs and build long-term wealth through saving and debt reduction.

The campaign is part of the broader, nation-wide America Saves Campaign.  The target audience includes service members from all branches, their family members, and civil service employees.

“After Hurricane Michael, we found many people, from here to Tyndall, needed financial assistance,” said Tamie Fox, Airman & Family Readiness Center personal financial readiness program manager.  “People also spend more during the Christmas holiday season.  We want to encourage them to set short and long-term savings goals and be ready for challenges that may arise.”

A text to pledge system allows eligible patrons to make savings pledges from their smartphones by texting “Eglin Saves” to 877-877.

The text to pledge system also sends links to local financial resources.

A kick-off event is scheduled for Monday, March 25 at the A&FRC.

Throughout the week, A&FRC personnel will offer personal finance readiness guidance at the following locations:

Feb. 25 – A&FRC, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
