CFC goal set for Eglin Published Oct. 7, 2011 By Maj. Gen. Kenneth Merchant Air Armament Center commander EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- As we head into the next six weeks of the Combined Federal Campaign, I'd like to remind you of what a tremendous opportunity this is for Team Eglin to demonstrate its generosity. Being one of two sanctioned charitable drives in the Air Force, the CFC allows us to channel the willingness of our people to support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. Last year, we raised $763,357, well over our goal of $690,000, and this year our goal is $750,000 - an objective well within our reach. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the CFC and I can't think of a better way to acknowledge that milestone than to exceed our goal once again. Economic times are certainly challenging and we've all felt the burden in one way or another, however, that just means there are even more people in need this year. With charities of interest to everyone and several easy ways to contribute, I have no doubt we will be successful. While the decision to contribute is purely voluntary, the CFC provides us with a wonderful opportunity to show how each of us can take the lead in improving where we live. Here at Eglin, we've assembled an excellent team of base project officers, unit project officers, coordinators and key workers to support you throughout the campaign - they make this whole process possible. I encourage all of you to get with your organization's coordinator and see how you can contribute.
