Combined Federal Campaign begins Published Oct. 4, 2011 By Gen. Donald Hoffman Air Force Materiel Command commander WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- This year's Combined Federal Campaign kicks off Oct. 5 and will run through Nov. 16. This is one of two benefit drives officially sanctioned by the Air Force along with the AF Assistance Fund in the spring. Many relief agencies depend on the CFC to finance their operations. This past year alone, our nation experienced an overwhelming number of natural disasters. The Texas, California, and Arizona wildfires, as well as numerous tornado outbreaks and floods, serve as a reminder that the need is real. In addition, many research activities depend upon the CFC to finance their searches for curing disease. Ultimately, your voluntary contributions will not only benefit others, but may also benefit you, your family, and your friends. This year, I am setting an AFMC goal to complete 100 percent contact by key workers and collect voluntary contributions and pledges during the first few weeks of this year's campaign... please take the time to make your decision early and we can then move on to other business. Our CFC key workers are there to support you with materials and to answer your questions. Please also consider using the payroll deduction plan to spread your contributions over the next year, beginning in Jan. 12. Your generosity last year was overwhelming. Collectively, the men and women of AFMC contributed over $9.8 million to CFC charities. That was truly a significant achievement, particularly in these tough economic times. I encourage each of you to help us continue this trend in 2011, and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
