Athletic area upgrades
Trees and brush are being removed to make way for a new multi-purpose field and eventually tennis and basketball courts behind the East Gate shopette at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. This is one of many renovations to the athletic areas surrounding the track and field house. All of the ball fields will be upgraded with new dugouts and fencing. One of them will be converted to a multi-purpose field. The concrete PT pads will be coated in rubber urethane. Also, a covered pavilion area will be constructed between Foster Stadium and the soccer field. These projects are to support the increased PT activity in the area, according to the 96th Force Support Squadron. The expected completion date is late 2013. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
