Athletic area upgrades
The four physical training pads located behind the East Gate shopette will be coated with rubber urethane and have pull-up and dip-bars installed as part of a large on-going athletic area renovation at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. This is one of many renovations taking place surrounding the track and field house. All of the ball fields will be upgraded with new dugouts and fencing. One of them will be converted to a multi-purpose field. Currently, trees are being cleared to make way for a new multi-purpose field, tennis and basketball courts. Also, a covered pavilion area will be constructed between Foster Stadium and the soccer field. These projects are to support the increased PT active in the area, according to the 96th Force Support Squadron. The expected completion date is late 2013. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
