KIRKUK REGIONAL AIR BASE, Iraq – 1st Lt. Stephanie Englmeier, 321st Expeditionary Medical Squadron operating room nurse, attaches electrodes to a patient’s chest to check for vital signs May 11. The 321st EMEDS is the principal surgical unit for American forces in all of northern Iraq, treating military and civilian patients alike.
