AF week hero

Senior Airman Brandon Harrell is interviewed by media during Air Force Week in Cocoa Beach. The explosive ordinance technician from the 96th Civil Engineer Group represented his service Oct. 28-30 there as a hometown hero. He was recognized recently for his efforts in Afghanistan where he was fired upon when responding to an explosion of a 15-pound improvised explosive device that took two lives in 2009. The Air Force Week program is part of a proactive approach to public communication and community relations. Each Air Force week includes community visits and talks by Air Force officials, flight demonstration team performances, and displays providing a detailed look at the women and men of the United States Air Force serving on the front lines.
