Group to squadron
Col. Sal Nodjomian, 96th Air Base Wing commander, and Lt. Col. Stamatis Smeltz, 96th Communications Squadron commander, roll up the 96th Communications Group guidon symbolizing the deactivation of the group July 27 at Eglin Air Force Base Fla. A few minutes later, the 96th CS was activated under the 96th Mission Support Group. Ironically, the group began as a squadron in 1972. It became a group in 1986.
