Habbaniya Remembrance Ceremony
Habbaniya, Iraq-- Chaplain (Capt.) Shawn Menchion, 732nd Air Expeditionary Group chaplain, presides over a remembrance ceremony Nov. 11. This year, the Royal Air Force Habbaniya Society, in coordination with 732 ELRS Logistics Military Advisory Team, held the Remembrance Ceremony at the RAF Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, Habbaniya, Iraq. More than 55 coalition and Iraqi Army personnel attended. In Britain, the Act of Remembrance is either on Armistice Day at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (when the WW1 Armistice was signed) or at 11a.m. on the Remembrance Sunday closest to it. The first time this ceremony took place in Iraq was after the Royal Air Force was forced to leave in 1959. Chaplain Menchion is deployed from Eglin AFB. (courtesy photo)
