High performance safety

TALLADEGA, Ala. -- The pit fire team gets a briefing before the start of the Automobile Racing Club of America RE/MAX Series race Oct. 5. Included in that team, John Piccuito, J.R. Suddarth and Tech. Sgt. Jimmy Reed, Eglin Air Force Base firefighters, are among a group of firefighters from all over the country that go to the spring and fall Talladega NASCAR races to make sure the drivers and race teams are safe. Sometimes that means protecting the race teams from themselves. They provided safety for the Friday night Automobile Racing Club of America RE/MAX Series race, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday and the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race on Sunday.
