Eyes to the skies

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Tom Manning, 46th Weather Squadron forecaster, monitors current weather conditions on a daily basis here. The 46th WS is gearing up for an "above average" hurricane season, a prediction by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Hurricane Center. The NHC is predicting the Atlantic hurricane season to have a 75 percent chance of being an "above average." With an average of 10 storms per year, the NHC forecasters predict 13 to 17 named storms. Hurricane season officially begins June 1 and lasts through November 30. Mr. Manning has more than 17 years tropical storm experience as a weather forecaster. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
