Hero's retirement

Staff Sgt. Nick Bradley, 96th Security Forces Squadron, addresses the crowd during his retirement ceremony May 21 at Eglin Air Force Base. Sergeant Bradley was wounded when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle as he was serving with a convoy traveling in Afghanistan. The blast caused facial fractures, a fractured foot, traumatic right arm injuries and amputation of a finger on his left hand. Sergeant Bradley received a Purple Heart and the Combat Action Medal from Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz in October 2008, before being medically retired.
