Remembering the fallen
EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Michael buries his head in his grandfather, Larry's lap after his family received an American flag in honor of Marine Staff Sgt. Christopher Strickland, an EOD technician who died in the line of duty June 25, 2008 in Afghanistan. The ceremony was part of the 40th Annual Explosive Ordnance Disposal Memorial Service May 2, held at the Kauffman EOD Training Complex. Six servicemembers were added to the memorial wall bringing the total to 238 names. The men and women whose names are on the Memorial must be graduates of an approved EOD School who have given their lives on active duty as a result of an EOD mission since the declaration of World War II.
