Remembering the fallen
EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Rear Admiral William Shannon, Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons program executive officer, presents an American Flag to the family of Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Luis Sounfront, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician who died in the line of duty Feb. 8, in Iraq. The ceremony was part of the 40th Annual EOD Memorial Service May 2 at the Kauffman EOD Training Complex. During the service, six servicemembers' names were added to the Memorial. The total now stands at 238 names. The men and women whose names are on the Memorial must be graduates of an approved EOD School who have given their lives on active duty as a result of an EOD mission since the declaration of World War II.
