Col. Eric Pohland, 96th Air Base Wing commander, pins a Combat Action Medal on Senior Airman Lawrence Taylor, Ground Combat Training Squadron. July 2007, an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle, detonating and causing injuries to Airman Taylor. He also received a Purple Heart. The Combat Action Medal is an award is for Airmen who have been involved in direct fighting situations where they risked their lives in an enemy engagement.
