9/11 firefighters tower climb
Helmets and gear of the Eglin Air Force Base fire department are aligned in rows prior to their mission Sept. 11. Fire department Airmen and civilians ascended the 11-story air traffic control tower carrying ribbons with the names of the 343 firefighters killed Sept. 11, 2001. When each name was delivered to the top of the tower it was read aloud. The event ended on top of the tower with participants hanging the ribbons over the balcony on either side of an American Flag.
