96th GCTS instructor awarded Bronze Star

Staff Sgt. Wayne E. Levan, an instructor with the 96th Ground Combat Training Squadron, was awarded the Bronze Star Aug. 15 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. He was honored for meritorious service as a Force Protection non-commissioned officer-in-charge while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with a special operations joint task force in Afghanistan. According to the medal certificate, Levan’s execution of his duties ensured the force protection of more than 5,000 personnel occupying several geographically separated locations across the area of operations. His proactive efforts to identify readiness deficiencies in conjunction with infrastructure improvements significantly enhanced the overall security of the task force.
