Air Force Seek Eagle Mass Properties
Mass property ordnance equipment specialists guide and steady the Joint Air-To-Surface Standoff Missile and hanging fixture with a remote control in order to lock it into the KSR 6500 for additional measurements at the Mass Properties Measurement Facility on Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., March 24. The ordnance equipment specialists then rotate the item to determine the missile’s centers of gravity from top to bottom, left to right, and from nose to tail. This information is used by Air Force Seek Eagle engineers and customers to determine flight capabilities, weapon predictions, and as a production quality check. AFSEO’s equipment specialists provide mass property measurements of up to 8,000 pounds through the use of stationery and mobile measurement machines in support of worldwide deployments.
