Physicians use precision to clean cloudy eyes

Ophthalmic surgical technicians Senior Airman James Bohannon, 96th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, and civilian contractor Wilfredo Cisneros prepare the new lens for implantation as the doctor performs cataract extraction surgery at Eglin Air Force Base hospital. During the procedure, the surgeon removes the eye’s cloudy lens known as a cataract and replaces it with a new clear lens implant. The surgery takes approximately 20 minutes. The 96th Medical Group performs approximately 150 cataract surgeries per year. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
