Airfield lighting
Dusty Dees, 796th Civil Engineer Squadron, uses a crank system to lower an airfield approach lighting spire to change out a lamp Oct. 29 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. These elevated systems at Eglin and Duke Field are maintained by the 796th CES. Eglin and Duke’s systems contain 60 elevated towers. Each contains four 200-watt lamps. Civil Engineer personnel change out approximately 60 of the 240 lamps used at the top of the spires every year. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
