Nature scenes from the littoral range

A green sea turtle nest sits on the dunes of the Santa Rosa Island range June 24 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Green sea turtles are on the threatened species list. They nest on Northwest Florida shores every other year and lay an average of 120 eggs according to Jackson Guard biologists. The vital nesting and hatching period occurs from May to October.
