Prescribed burn experts from the Cheyenne Arapaho Tribes Fire Management team and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Wildland Fire Branch stop for a quick photo following a successful prescribed burn operation at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, in late-May. The burn marked the first activation of a new partnership between the Air Force and the tribes’ fire management team. The new partnership leverages the tribes’ vast local knowledge to build a better prescribed burn program and is one of hundreds of tribal partnerships that support and improve Department of the Air Force operations every year.
