The way 911 calls are routed on Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., depend on whether they are made from mobile devices or base landlines. When they come from mobile devices, they are routed through outside emergency agencies, possibly delaying emergency response times. Calls made from base landlines are routed directly to Eglin’s Fire Alarm Communications Center, alleviating callers having to request to be transferred to Eglin’s emergency lines.
