EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Airmen from the 96th Test Wing were lauded for their continued diligence during a Unit Effectiveness Inspection here June 18-22.
More than 80 inspectors from the Air Force Material Command Inspector General evaluated the wing against four major graded areas: executing the mission, managing resources, improving the unit and leading the people.
The wing received a “Highly Effective” rating in mission execution and improving the unit, and an “Effective” rating in leading people and managing resources.
The wing earned similar ratings during its last UEI in 2016.
“Overall, the IG team was very impressed by the wing,” said Brig. Gen. Evan Dertien, 96th TW commander, in a letter to wing Airmen. “’Highly Effective’ ratings are very rare, so getting two is an outstanding accomplishment and reflection of your hard work.”
The inspection served as a continual evaluation of performance from April 2016 to now.
According to Dertien, the ratings are a culmination of more than two years of self and virtual assessments as well as inspections. It concluded with the capstone inspection where inspectors met with Airmen face-to-face to review their programs.
The UEI focused on helping the wing commander identify areas of improvement to better support the mission.
“The 96th TW continues to set the example for performance,” said Dertien. “When the final UEI report is released it will contain both strengths and recommended improvement areas. We can continue improving our unit to meet the needs of the Air Force and our nation’s warfighters.”
The wing will receive the inspection report in the coming month.
