Hurricane Preparedness

Hurricane Preparedness

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --

Are you ready?

Hurricane season is closing in and 96th Test Wing’s Readiness and Emergency Management wants to make sure the base populous and community are up to date and prepared for any potential storms.

To do so, Team Eglin personnel will provide briefings to answer any questions about how the base prepares and executes its hurricane protocols.

“The Hurricane Preparedness Briefings provide key preparation and lifesaving actions for Airmen, family and the entire community,” said Chief Master Sgt. Jason Selman, 96th Civil Engineer Squadron readiness and emergency management superintendent.  “True preparedness done prior to a storm can lessen the amount of stress and anxiety most people will face during a hurricane.  If you prepare for a hurricane, you will be prepared for most emergencies.”

The briefings is open for all Team Eglin personnel and dependents.  There will be speakers from weather, finance, legal, civilian personnel, airman and family readiness, medical, and emergency management.  Topics include 2019 weather outlook, hurricane history, hazards, preparedness actions, evacuation and claims/reimbursements.

The first briefing is May 21 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the enlisted heritage hall.  The second briefing is May 22 at  9 a.m., 3 and 6 p.m.
