With an Okaloosa County Tax Office located right on base, obtaining or renewing license plates and driver’s licenses is made easier for Eglin personnel.

According to Cherrylyn Mellott, Chief of Branch of Operations for the Okaloosa County Tax Collector, most of the services offered at the off-base branches are also offered at the Eglin location.

“Military members and their families can save more than an hour of their time by doing business at our Eglin office,” said Mellott. “We are able to offer a quick, convenient way for our servicemembers to handle their Florida vehicle title and registration needs, Florida driver license issuance, and hunting and fishing license.”

The Eglin office houses three stations, allowing customers to move through fairly quickly. Mellott said many of the customers visiting the Eglin branch are able to do so without taking any time off work.

“A lot of military members come to our office during their lunch break, which saves them the drive time to and from our other offices located in the county,” explained Mellott. “As a local government, we are committed to supporting our military members and their families.”

The office, located in Building 210, is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Anyone with access to the base may utilize the office. Appointments are required for driver licenses and state IDs.
