EOD Warfighter Challenge

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --

The 96th Civil Engineer Group cleaned up in a variety of Air Force Materiel Command awards categories recently.

“It’s awesome to see so many 96th TW folks being recognized for what we already know - they’re the best in the MAJCOM,” said Col. Timothy Beers, 96th TW vice commander in an email announcement.

The awards range from explosive ordnance to weather to engineering and medical.

Here are the AFMC winners:

Tech. Sgt. Jerimy Watkins, 96th Civil Engineer Squadron – EOD MasterBlaster of the Year (NCO)

Senior Master Sgt. Joseph Burke, 96th CES – EOD MasterBlaster of the Year (SNCO)

Randy McDaniel, 96th CES - Air Force Emergency Manager of the Year (Civilian)

1st Lt. Robert Nero, 96th CES - Major General Eugene A. Lupia Award (Company Grade Officer)

Maj. Kelly Mattie, 96th CES - Major General L. Dean Fox Award

96th CEG - Air Force Outstanding Civil Engineer Unit Award (Active Duty Large Unit); Brigadier General Michael A. McAuliffe Housing Excellence Award; Colonel Frederick J.
