EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - Base fire, law enforcement and medics joined with Navy School EOD first responders as well as Okaloosa and Walton County Sheriffs' Offices and emergency medical technicians to take part in a large active assailant exercise here.

The exercise tested the responses and actions of the various agencies to a scenario in which an armed assailant opened fire on EOD students and caused an explosion deep within the Eglin range near the Navy schoolhouse.
