Eglin concealed carry policy remains unchanged

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - Beginning tomorrow, the state of Florida will no longer require a concealed carry permit to carry lawfully owned firearms.

Despite the Florida law change, the carrying of concealed firearms on the Eglin installation will still be prohibited until further notice. The transport of firearms onto the installation without specific credentials is also prohibited.

The only personnel authorized to carry concealed privately-owned firearms on the installation are Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act-credentialed personnel assigned to the 96th Security Forces Squadron, the 919th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron, and the 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron.

The installation commander has the authority to alter privately-owned firearms policies based on local threat assessments, installation and personnel needs and activities.

Personnel should check with the security forces of the installation they are entering to ensure compliance with local directives.

“The safety and security of our personnel and resources is of the utmost importance,” Maj. Andrew McFee, 96th SFS commander.
