EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – The Eglin Golf Course will permanently close its nine-hole Falcon Course Jan. 13.
The closure is the result of an evaluation of the golf course’s operational viability, increased maintenance costs, economic factors, and a decline in usage trends.
“Our management team’s decision to close the FC was not made lightly,” said Lt. Col. Laura Evans, 96th Force Support Squadron commander. “We believe it is necessary to focus our resources on enhancing the facilities to ensure the sustainability of the Eglin Golf Course.”
While the Eagle Golf Course will remain open, the FC’s hole 1 and 18 will be available for short game practice. This provides golfers a focused setting to hone their skills, said Nyron Alexander, community service flight chief.
The golf course team will contact its members to provide information and updates on future developments and enhancements.
“We appreciate the loyalty and support of our members and guests over the years,” said Alexander. “The golf course team is committed to continue to provide quality facilities and a welcoming environment.”
The FC is one of two Eglin golf courses in Niceville, open to the public year-round since August 2023.
