EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Base operations and services will remain closed through Thursday Jan. 23 after a record snowfall in the region late yesterday.
The Eglin Installation Commander extended his order for essential mission activities on Eglin. Operations and services except for base emergency services will be closed all of Thursday, Jan. 23. Maximum telework remains highly encouraged.
As an exception, the Eglin commissary will open tomorrow from noon to 4 p.m. to allow base residents and Eglin personnel who live just outside the gates access to groceries.
It is still highly encouraged for people to stay off the roadways as much as possible and not travel to Eglin unless absolutely necessary.
Roads in and around the area remain a major concern as a refreeze is expected just before sunset tonight.
A decision on the installation’s posture for Friday, Jan. 24 will be made tomorrow afternoon based on the projected condition of roads in and around the area.
Eglin personnel should stay in close contact with their supervisors for specific unit information and keep a close eye on local forecast for weather updates.
The 96th Medical Group will be limited to emergencies, limited in-patient surgery, mother/baby care, and virtual appointments. Patients with questions about their appointments should call the 96th MDG appointment line.
